Club Notes 29/3/10

RESULTS: The National Juvenile Indoor T&F Championships was down for decision last weekend and the club were well represented over the weekend with some competing for the first time and some very good performance and PB by others. Eoin O’Carroll continued his winning way in the U16 age group with 3 PBs over the weekend and three medals to match. His highlight of the weekend was gold in the long jump with a jump of 6.22. He was third in the sprint (7.41s) and third in the high jump (1.71m). A great weekend for Eoin. Sinead O’Connor (U18) also had a very good weekend claiming silver in the triple jump 10.64m and a PB in the 60m in time of 8.28s coming 7th place overall. Rory O’Connor (U12) was our third medal winner of the weekend coming 3rd high jump 1.30m. He also made the final of the 60m coming home in 8th spot in a time of 8.99 and doing well also in the long jump (3.93m). A fantastic achievement for such a young athlete.  His team mate Michael Linnane also competed in the high jump coming a credible 6th with a height of 1.15m.

Other major achievers over the weekend was Ger Browne (U15) fourth in the shot 10.80m with a new PB. Kate Boyd was fifth in the shot (9.45m), also a new PB by well over a half a meter. Dearbhail Foley (U19) coming back from a long layoff did very well in the 60m to claimed sixth spot in a time of 8.30s. Danny Pierse also did very well coming sixth in the 60m hurdles final in a time of 9.77 and sixth in the  High Jump with a height of 1.60m. Louise O’Connor was seventh in the 60mH (10.24s) and fifth in the High Jump 1.50m.  Michael Godley was seventh in the triple jump (11.57m), Aoife O’Carroll was seventh in the hurdles (11.03s) and Mary Doody was seventh in the High jump (1.35m). Emma McCarthy was unlucky not to qualify in the 600m and Feargal O’Nuaillain was unlucky in the long jump to record three breaks. Both athletes were at their first Nationals. Overall the athletes acquitted themselves very well and can be very proud of their achievements. 

TRAINING: The Masters/Seniors Monday night circuits session continues in the KDYS at 8pm. For juveniles, all athletes U13-U19 will continue training on Tuesday in the ITT at 7pm. The younger ages will continue their training at 6.30pm in the Green. Our outdoor work continues on Thursday at 7pm in the ITT. Please contact coaches for details.
