RESULTS: The cold weather snap interrupted all competitions over the last number of weeks but the season finally got under way last weekend with the National Junior Indoors the main competition of the weekend. Sinead O’Connor started the year well with a bronze in the Junior Women Triple Jump with a jump of 10.48m. She was 5^th in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.81m. Cian Foley also started the year well coming 4^th in the Junior 400m in a time of 53.26. He ran a slightly faster heat time of 52.63. In the 60m Cian ran a time of 7.36s. Paudie Whelan ran 24.58 in the 200m and 53.84 in the 400m. Michael Godley was 4^th in the Triple Jump with 11.41m and outside the last 8 for the Long Jump (5.40m). All can be happy with their efforts as this is very early season competition with little or no practice due the weather over the last number of weeks.

In New York Claire Fitzgerald broke the Irish Junior Indoor Record for the shot with a throw of 13.91 while competing with her college. Claire has only recently moved to New York as part of her scholarship and she has got off to a great start in her first competitive outing of the year

Lastly Orla O’Reilly was part of a Kerry Cross Country team that won gold at the Munster Cross Country Inter-County Relays for the Kerry U10 team. Well done to Orla.

TRAINING: The Masters/Seniors Monday night circuits session continues in the KDYS at 8pm. For juveniles, all athletes born 1999 upwards will continue on Tuesday next in The Green School Gym at 7pm. Our outdoor work continues on Thursday at 7pm in the ITT. There will be a weights session for selected athletes on Fridays and a run at the weekends either in Banna or Ballyseedy. From Tues 26^th of Jan our U9 to U12 will start at 6.30pm and the U13 upwards will start at 7.30pm
