Club Notes 3/8/09

RESULTS: The highlight of the athletic year nationally is the National Senior T&F Championships and this year we were represented by Sinead O’Connor in the long jump and triple jump. Sinead competing in the Seniors for the first time didn’t disappoint either claiming the bronze medal in the triple jump with a new PB to boot with a mark of 10.97m. This is a huge achievement for Sinead who has been showing huge progress all year in both the triple and long jump. She also jumped 5.20 later in the day in the long jump. Well done to Sinead on a fantastic achievement and looking forward for more to come for Sinead in the future.

The weekend previously was also a very busy weekend with the National Juvenile Multi Events, Munster Seniors and County Seniors down for decision. At the National Juvenile Multi Events Mary Doody put in a tremendous performance in the U14 age group claiming the silver medal overall and pulling big performances in all events. She had a number of PBs in these events and what a time to pull them out. Well done to Mary. Also we had two other competitors on the day in Danny Pierce and Ger Browne. Danny was 9th overall in fairly stiff competition with a time of 13.3 in the hurdles and 2.45.2 in the 800m, 1.53m in the high jump and 4.80 in the long jump, and 7.16 in the shot.
