RESULTS: The Munster Junior U23 and Senior took place on Monday May 4^th in Cork IT and we had some good performances in all events. Claire Fitzgerald qualified for the European Junior on Friday night at the County Championships in the shot throwing 14.??m. At the Munsters she won the Junior shot (13.67m), and discus (42.42). The O’Connor family were to the fore at the Munsters also with Patsy winning the javelin (39.64), weight for distance (6.32), weight for height (3.00), 2^nd in the shot (11.31), 3rd in the discus (30.54). Son Alan won the U23 shot (12.54), won the javelin (34.03), was second in the discus (36.42), 2^nd in weight for distance (9.29) and 2^nd in weight for height (4.20). Karen O’Connor claimed 3^rd in the discus. David Boyd won the U23 10m (11.59) with Michael Kelliher coming third (11.76) in the 100m and third in the 200m (24.89). Sinead O’Connor made the sprint final running a time of 13.54 and jump 4.77 to come fifth in the Long Jump. Sinead teamed up with Dearbhail Foley, Erickia Mackey, and Laura Lynch to take silver in the Junior Women 4x100m. Andrew Kearney was fifth in the high jump (1.60m). Sarah McLoughlin was fifth in the U23 shot and sixth in the discus.

At the Counties Championships Claire Fitzgerald shot was the highlight of the event qualifying her for the European Juniors.  Well done to all athletes to competed over the two weekends and our attendance was much improved from last year.

TRAINING: Outdoor training on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8.30pm in the ITT, Castleisland on Thursdays from 7pm to 8.30pm and on Saturdays in Castleisland from 3pm to 5pm for competition squads. Weights training on Fridays at 6.30pm for selected athletes.
