Club Notes 13/10/08

TRAINING: The Masters indoor circuit training moves to a new day and time this winter at Fridays from 9pm to 10pm. At juvenile level, our indoor sessions take place on Tuesday at 7.30pm. Age groups from U12-U20 are asked to attend. Outdoor training will take place on Thurs at 7pm in the ITT. A provisional fixture list for the indoor season is now available on the website. Also athletes wishing to take part in the up and coming cross country, please contact Michael Godley re training times at 087-6790948.

AWARDS NIGHT: The annual awards night was held in Fels Point hotel on Saturday night. Attendance this year was high, with 140 people enjoying a three-course dinner followed by the award ceremony and a disco. All athletes who won Munster/National medals received an award according to the usual format. Due to the difficulty in attaining     such accolades, this year juvenile athletes who won medals at the Munster Bs and County Championship were included also. Special category awards were received by those athletes that the club deemed to deserve particular mention. Amy Phillip and Jason Roche were awarded for their commitment and dedication to training and competition attendance. At juvenile level also, Eoin O’Carroll, Ciara Walsh and Cian Foley were awarded for their outstanding performances during the 2007 competition season. Patrick Phelan was given an outstanding accomplishment award for his participation in the Irish National 4 X 100m relay team, who won silver in Talin. It was no surprise to the attendees when Claire Fitzgerald was called to accept Athlete of the Year award at the end of the ceremony. Claire’s outstanding achievements again this year made it an easy decision for the coaches to select her for this category. Congratulations to all.

A lively disco, (which could be considered the first of the training sessions of the season!) drew the night to a close for another year. Thanks to all who participated in the night, in organisation and attendance. Most notable, thanks is due to all the athletes whose performances we were there to celebrate and who bring much pride and success to the club.

Awards for some members who were unable to attend the ceremony may be collected by prior arrangement. Please contact M. Godley at 087-6790948 to arrange collection.
