times of
11.47s and 11.53s respectively. Eoin Leen finished fifth in an
international
class field in the discus with a throw of 53.57.
Weekend 2
of the Munster Juvenile T&F Championships turned out to be
equally as
successful as the first with a total medal haul of 20 and some fine
individual
performances to boot. Claire Fitzgerald won two golds in the javelin
and discus
with throws of 35.14 and 36.43. Such is her form at the moment that she
took
part in the Cork City Sports on Saturday prior, coming fifth with a
throw of 12.28
in the shot in an international class field. She has also qualified for
the
European Youth Olympics this summer which is truly a huge achievement.
Michael
Godley took his total medal haul to five over the two weekends which is
quite a
remarkable feat and no doubt some precedent for the club. He added two
bronze
and a silver to his gold and silver from the previous week. His silver
medal
came in the 100m in a time of 12.77s. His two bronze medals came in the
high

to
qualify her for the Nationals. Dara O’Carroll won silver in
the 800m in a good
time of 2.08.75. In the 100m sprints, Cian Foley is starting to make a
serious
break through in sprinting coming third in the 100m in a time of 11.75.

Byrne also claimed third in his 100m (12.25s) as did Ben McGilton who
achieved
a new PB for him in a time of 11.38s. David Boyd narrowly missed out on
the

the 250m hurdles.
All three go through to the Nationals with the best yet to come from
these
athletes. Dearbhail also competed in the LJ (4.40) and 250m hurdles
where she
is making very steady progress. Danny also competed in the LJ (5.10)
coming
sixth overall. There were also good performances from Molly McGilton
sixth in
the 100m final (13.24s) and Sinead O’Connor fifth in the 250m

Nationals in
these events. In the relays, the boys U19 achieved a CBP in a time of
