Notes 2/1/07 RESULTS: The first competition of 2007 took place on Saturday last in Nenagh where the Munster Masters and Juvenile Pentathlons were held. In the Masters all of our athletes present achieved success. Patsy O’Connor (O50) took a hat trick of gold medals in the HJ with a jump of 1.45m, the shot with a throw of 13.48m and the weight for distance with a throw of 8.79m. Martin McDonagh (O65) took a brace of gold medals in the shot with a throw of 8.30m and in the weight for distance with a throw of 7.12m. Pat Canty (O50) also had two golds in the 60m with a time of 7.8s and in long jump with a jump of 4.72m. Donal Crowley took three medals on the day with 2 golds in the High Jump (1.20m) and long jump (4.00m) and a bronze in the 60m (9.4m). Finally Shane Rogers (O40) claimed bronze in the long jump (4.76m) In the Juvenile combined events the club had four athletes represented with two claiming golds. In the boys U15 Michael Godley put in some big performances in all of his events to claim gold in his age group with a points total of 2,959. He won the hurdles with a time of 10.0s, jumped 1.51m in the HJ and 4.75m in the LJ, 8.7m in the shot and had a time of 2.27.7 in the 800m. He had PBs in four of the events for what was a very satisfying day for him. Ciara Walsh also took gold in the U15 age group and is going from strength to strength in this event after a very successful year in 2006. She won her hurdles with a time of 10.1s, jumped 4.39m in the long jump and 1.45m in the high jump, threw 6.83 in the shot and ran 2.45s in the 800m to give her a points total of 2,459. Newcomers to this event, Dearbhail Foley and Danny O Connor both came in fifth overall and put in some very good performance particularly in the jumps. TRAINING: Masters indoor circuit training resumes on Monday 8th of January in the KDYS hall at 8pm. Juvenile Indoor Circuit training resumes on Tuesdays at 7pm in the Green school. Outdoor training resumes on Thursdays in Castleisland at 7pm and on Sundays in Mounthawk at 12.30. There is only four weeks to the Munster Indoors so we would ask all to make a big effort to attend over the next month or so. EVENTS: Munster Senior & Junior Indoor Championships, Jan 7th, Nenagh; Munster Senior Cross Country, Jan 14th, Limerick. SCOTTISH INDOORS: The Scottish Indoors takes place on the weekend of 17th/18th of February. Athletes will need to firm up on their commitment to travel over the next week or so.
