Club Notes 8/8/06 The Tralee Harriers Open Sports were held on the 23rd July with great success. We had an excellent turnout with clubs as far as Clonmel and Limerick attending. We would like to thank all who assisted in the organisation of the day. The Inter County Relays were held in Tullamore last weekend. Many of the Tralee Harriers athletes were part of this event and as, expected Kerry did very well. The results were as follows: U9 Girls won gold with Aoife O’Carroll and Aoibheann O’Brien on the team. U11 Girls won silver with Rachel O’Halloran U11 Boys won bronze with Jack Morgan U13 Boys won silver with Eoin O’Carroll U13 Girls won silver with Louise O’Connor U15 Boys won an impressive gold with both Jamie Byrnes and Danny O’Connor representing Tralee Harriers. U15 Girls with Dearbhail Foley representing Tralee Harriers. Considering that all of the U11 and U13 Tralee Harriers Athletes above moved up one year to compete for a place on these teams makes their success all the more impressive. Claire Fitzgerald of Tralee Harriers attended the Amateur Athletics Association Championship in Birmingham last weekend and we would like to congratulate her on her overwhelming success. Claire came 1st in the U15 shot with a distance of 12 64m. She came 2nd in the discus with a distance of 31 64m and she won 1st in the javelin with a personal best of 36 16m. This was the best performance at the championship as Claire was the only athlete in both the UK and Ireland to win three medals. Congratulations also to her proud parents Martin and Helen who attended the championships with Claire.
