Notes 5/10/05 The county cross country for uneven ages took place in Beaufort on Sunday last and the club had four athletes taking part and managed to take 2 gold medals. First up was Ciara Walsh in the girls U13 1000m. She led from the start and never looked under any pressure through out to win in commanding style. This is her first medal in cross country and no doubt her not her last. Michael Godley also took gold in the boys U13 1200m to retain his title from last year. Michael started strongly and took the lead at about the 400m mark. He led from here with strong running to the line with easily a good 50-60m to spare. Ronan Murphy also competed in this race and put in a good performance for his first experience at cross country. Ger Browne put in good performance despite moving up an age group to compete in the U11 boys race. Both can look forward to competing at their own age group in two weeks time at the county even age cross country. The county even age takes place in Tralee on Sunday October 16th so we would ask interested athletes to attend training over the next few weeks as we hope to have 2 or 3 teams at this event. Cross Country training continues on Mondays & Wednesdays at 6.30pm in Mounthawk. Distances are as follows: U9 - 500m, U10 - 600m, U11 - 800m, U12 - 1000m, U13 1000m Girls, 1200m Boys, U14 - 1200m Girls, 1500m Boys. Teams usually consist of 6 athletes with 4 to score.
